who is Ludvig Aberg

Ludvig Åberg is a professional golfer from Sweden. Born on October 31, 1999, Åberg has made a significant impact in the world of golf from a young age. He played college golf at Texas Tech University, where he achieved notable success, including multiple individual titles.

Åberg's amateur career was distinguished by his high ranking in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, where he reached the number one spot. He turned professional in 2023 and quickly began making a name for himself on the professional circuit. His game is characterized by a powerful swing and strong all-around skills, making him a promising talent in the sport.

Rookie Ludvig Aberg

After two rounds, you still only need -5 strokes to take the lead in the 2024 US Open! Currently occupying the top of the leaderboard is the tour rookie Ludvig Aberg. The 24-year-old Swedish superstar shot 69 strokes with 3 birdies and 2 breaks today, further improving the total score to -5 strokes, and won the sole lead at Pinehurst No. 2 Course by one stroke.

This is Aberg's US Open debut. He is also the first player to take the 36-hole lead in his first US Open since 1985, and is expected to become the first player to win the championship in his first appearance since Francis Vime in 1913.

Graduating from Texas Tech University, Aberg is the first NCAA player in history to go directly from college to the PGA Tour. He won the PGA Tour membership for the 2023 and 2024 seasons by ranking first in the first PGA Tour University, and broke through the PGA Tour for the first time in the RSM Classic last year. This year, he also won the runner-up in his personal Grand Slam debut at Augusta.

"Whatever I'm doing, whether it's in the gym or at any time, I try to do it the right way, and I believe that doing so will have good results." After handing in 66 strokes at Pinehurst yesterday, Aberg shared the cause and effect of his excellent performance. This season, he has played 12 games before this week, and he has six top-10s.

Tiger Woods Highlights

Tiger Woods caught two birdies and swallowed six bogeys in the first round. The score was 4 over par and ranked T86. Woods will try to advance in the second round. He still believes that he can win. It will take a huge effort for him to win this week.

"My physical condition is getting better and better as time goes by," Tiger said after the game. "I just can't play so many games because I don't want to get injured before the game, so that I can't play the Grand Slam. This is the treatment I choose. Play more and you may not be able to play. Play less and you may not play so well."

"Iceman" and McIlroy tied for the lead

McIlroy scored 5 birdies and no bogeys in the first round, with a score of 65. He made birdies on the 4th, 5th, 10th, 16th and 18th holes, and tied with Patrick Cantlay. The two also tied the 18-hole record of the US Open held at Pinewood No. 2.

This week, McIlroy will attack his fifth Grand Slam title. He has entered the top 10 five times in a row in the US Open, including last year's runner-up.

The players who competed with him in the first two rounds were the current popular Scheffler and Schauffele. The three of them represent the highest level of world golf today.

"I like this group arrangement." McIlroy said. "When you play professional golf events, whether you have played for 16 or 17 years, sometimes you just need something extra to inspire your fighting spirit, and this grouping definitely helps."

Cantlay only swallowed one bogey in the first round, and got six birdies, including two 20-foot birdie putts, and started with 65 strokes, 5 strokes under par.

Since returning from a serious back injury in 2017, Cantlay has had just one good shot at a major championship - the 2019 Masters - and he has only four top-10 finishes in 26 majors.

His most recent major finish was a tie for 53rd at the PGA Championship. "Me and my team are working on it," the inarticulate "Iceman" said when talking about his performances in the majors over the past two years.
