Celine Boutier played on home soil and created a surprise for France. On Wednesday, she caught 8 birdies and swallowed 1 bogey at the Albatross Course of the Paris National Golf Club, shooting 65 strokes, 7 strokes under par, and took the lead in the first round of the women's golf event of the Olympics.

Celine Boutier has won a Grand Slam (Evian Championship) on home soil and is currently ranked seventh in the world. She caught 3 birdies in the first nine holes, including a 23-foot long putt for birdie on the fifth hole, a par 4, and a 20-foot long putt for birdie on the sixth hole.

However, the important scoring range for the 30-year-old player is still the back nine holes. She scored consecutive 12- to 15-foot putts on the 10th and 11th holes, and only had her only bogey of the day when she didn't hit the green on the 12th hole.

Starting from the 14th hole, she made three consecutive birdies, including an 18-foot chip shot on the par-3 16th hole to birdie, taking a 3-shot lead.

South African player Ashleigh Buhai scored five birdies and one bogey, shooting 68 strokes and ranking second.

Representing the Chinese team for the third time in the Olympics, Guangzhou girl Lin Xiyu swallowed a double break on the first hole, but quickly adjusted her mentality and made birdies on the third and ninth holes!
